V6 Weekend Retreat

If you have a student entering the 6th grade this fall, it’s time to sign them up for V6. This overnight retreat helps to introduce 6th grade students to our Middle School Ministry while having a great time! We will have a worship service, play games, go to Incredible Pizza, learn about Small Groups (FLOCKs), camps and events. V6 is August 20th–21st and the cost is $25. The Homebound Ministry’s mission is extending the church and its ministry beyond the buildings and into the homes of those unable to attend. Beginning Fall 2010 Transformation Christian Counseling will be offering “In the Wildflowers”, a support group/video series of hope and healing for those who have suffered incidents of sexual abuse and/or other violations in their childhood and youth. The High School Ministry is going to have a 24 hour prayer room in the High School Room July 21st-23rd. It starts Wednesday after church and ends with a worship service starting at 8:30 p.m., Friday evening. All ages are invited to come and pray for God to move at Beach Week, in our church, and in our world.

Do you play a musical instrument, have a musical talent or gift, or just love to sing? The summer break is almost over and we will be starting back up in just a few weeks. Our first rehearsal is August 4th at 7:45 p.m. with our Official Kick Off Practice and Party on September 4th.

We are looking for leaders in these areas who have a heart to teach, serve and invest in the lives of these students. Hundreds of families will be coming to our campus on August 11th for the School Supply Drive. Our goal is to help them physically with a need, but then use that opportunity to share Christ with them through building relationships. Our greatest need right now is school supplies. Volunteer Positions Open In Hillside Cafe

Two volunteers are needed to serve on the cafe’s early shift, 6:30-9 a.m., every other week. Volunteers would set up the food line and serve food. This position begins August 8th. We also need volunteers for the cafe’s late shift, 10:30-11:30 a.m., to help serve food and then close the food line and dining area.

STOMP and PreSTOMP could use your help! STOMP begins August 25th and volunteers are needed to serve in several areas: greeters, helpers in small groups, and media assistance in the older classrooms. We provide training and guidance in all areas and it’s a fun place to serve! STOMP and PreSTOMP meet during the school year from 6:30-7:45 p.m. in the Children’s Building. We are looking for a person who knows sign language and would be willing to attend a young man’s FLOCK on Sunday at 9 a.m. in order to help him understand God’s Word. D-Team stands for Discipleship Team who will take 6 months to disciple High School Students that have just received Christ at Beach Week. They will meet at least every other week with a student to help them as they begin their relationship with Christ, learn how to study the Bible, pray, and discover why the church is important. What a great opportunity to help shape the life of a new believer. If you are interested contact the Student Ministry Office.
Facilitators Needed for DivorceCare

DivorceCare is a very fulfilling ministry by helping people who are going through some of the most devastating times they will experience. DivorceCare works best when facilitated by a male and female team. Both are needed at this time. A commitment consists of meeting weekly from 7:45-9 p.m. for a 13-week period once a year.

There is a mandatory Kids’ Kamp parent meeting coming soon. Please choose one of these times: Wednesday, July 21st at 7:45 p.m. or Sunday, July 25th at 4 p.m. Both meetings take place in C-214. Sunday, August 15th is a chance for the whole family to come out and enjoy an evening together. Join us for A Back to School Picnic, featuring Jami Smith in concert. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and pick a spot on the Village Green. There will also be food to purchase or you can pack your own. Join us at 6 p.m. for food and activities for the whole family, with the concert following at 7 p.m.
Islamic Culture Class

THE LINK Culture Class will educate and equip Christians to share the Gospel among people groups. This fall we will host Understanding Islamic People Groups. Former Muslims will help us go through an in depth study of Islamic culture, beliefs, history, and the Koran. The class costs $65 (discounts are available). The class will be held each Sunday from September 12th through October 31st, 4-5:30 p.m, in W-202. Registration will begin August 7th in the Gathering.

Dennis’ Sabbatical
Dennis will be gone the entire month of July on a personal sabbatical. When he was called as Senior Pastor, the church gave him the benefit of having 3 months off every 5 years for a sabbatical. During this time he will be focusing on a book that he has been writing and also work on the fall sermon series. Please be praying that this will be a time of refreshment in the Word for Dennis and Marcia.
