New Classes in Academy of Worship Arts

Beginning the first week of April, the Academy will open two short term classes. Rhythm Section Boot Camp for students/adults who play drumset, keys, acoustic, electric or bass guitar and want to learn how to play in a group setting. Zamar! is a music exploration class for 2nd-5th graders, incorporating singing, movement and instruments. Both classes meet on Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m. For tuition info or to enroll, contact Callie Fry or go to academy.hhbc.com.

Job Transitions Ministry

The Jobs Transitions Ministry has a need for additional volunteer coaches in assisting our members who are looking for a job. Spring Locker Room Parties

Preschool Play Day

Come join us in the Gym for our Spring Preschool Play Day on March 27th from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. We will have an egg hunt, inflatable Moon Bounce, crafts and snacks. Pack up your Preschoolers and be prepared for an eggstrordinary time! If you would like to donate candy for the egg hunt to help offset expenses, a drop-off box has been set up by the elevator in the Preschool Wing.

The Deacon Helps Team provides assistance to members of our church family such as widows, orphans, shut-ins and single parents who are unable to do these things on their own. Whether you’re interested in being a mentor or being mentored, come join us for information about mentoring. A new semester is starting soon! The orientation coffee will be April 11th from 2-4 p.m. and the kickoff will be April 15th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. You must be able to attend both the coffee and orientation to sign up. New Session of Body and Soul

A new session of Body and Soul will begin April 5th. This class will be from 9:15-10:30 on Mondays and Fridays in the Middle School Room. The 10 week session will cost $87.50. The recent Marci Wintz clinic has generated a tremendous opportunity for Spanish speaking volunteers to assist MOJ staff as we conduct follow-up visits. Only one of us speaks Spanish! Please join us as we minister to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the Hispanic population.

Volunteers Needed for Good Friday

Volunteers are needed in different areas for our Good Friday service. If you would like to help with set up on Thursday, April 1st, or serve at one of the stations on Friday, you can sign up in the Gathering at the Good Friday Volunteer Table or email Connie. We need help in these areas: greeters, Lords Supper area, hand washing area, and oil and spices area.

Easter Children’s Choir

This Easter, children will have the opportunity to help lead worship in our weekend services. This choir is open to ALL children in 1st-5th grade. They need to be able to sing in the beginning of all three Easter services, Sat. 5:30, Sun. 9:00, Sun. 10:45, arrive early on Saturday April 3rd for sound check, and attend two rehearsals before Easter weekend. If your child is interested, please contact Callie Fry.

New Summer Mission Trip Opportunities

We have added two more mission trips to our summer calendar. David Barnes will lead a group to Gage, OK from July 10th-16th to do VBS and service projects. All ages are welcome. There will be an informational meeting April 14th, 7:45p.m., in W-200. David Barnes will also lead a construction team to Rancho Los Angeles, a children’s home in Mexico from June 26th – July 3rd. Mexico Family Mission Trip Sign Up Deadline

There are 20 spots left for the Mexico Family Mission Trip. The deadline to register is Wednesday, March 31st. A $100 per person deposit will secure your spot. This trip includes VBS, medical, construction, soccer camp, women’s ministry, teenager’s ministry, evangelism, and more! Contact Lauren to register.

Good Friday Multi-Sensory Service

On April 2nd from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., the Worship Center will be open for a time of reflection as we remember the sacrifice Christ made. Invite friends and family to this service which is a self-paced, interactive, multi-sensory experience that focuses on elements that are representative of Good Friday. The service takes approximately 45 minutes to read the guide and to go through the stations. Children’s guides will be available.

Spanish Classes

If you want to learn Spanish this is the class for you! Starting March 22nd, Angel Lineres will teach a Spanish Class each Monday night from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in W-202. The only cost will be the workbook. Childcare is available. Contact Lauren Stewart to register.

Budget Q&A Meetings

The proposed FY 2010 General Ministry Plan is now available to the church for review. If you have questions about it please come to one of two meetings March 20th at 7 p.m. or March 21st at 2 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Small Conference Room adjacent to the Church Office Lobby. The final vote on the budget will be held March 31st during our evening worship service, without further discussion.

Attention Small Group/FLOCK Leaders
If you are a Small Group/FLOCK leader, we would like to give you the opportunity to meet and hear a word from Doug Dees, our Pastor of Education. You and your family are invited to join us, March 28th for lunch in the Activity Center following the 10:45 a.m. service.
