- Dennis Newkirk

Can you see the light? It is breaking through in our worship services! This is a picture that I took in Antelope Canyon, AZ, which is just outside the city of Page.
The stream of light appeared about 11:30 a.m. and pierced through the canyon like a laser.
Truly, this was an amazing moment.
The beauty and intensity of the light was overwhelming.
Somehow, the Antelope Canyon light reminds to me of what I sensed this weekend in worship. It is as if the Lord is cutting through the normalcy of our worship time with a fresh new light of His presence. This is indeed a sweet time at Henderson Hills. A renewal in worship is happening. Can’t you just sense the fresh awareness of the Lord’s presence and our responsiveness to God’s Word? The attendance is also growing remarkably. Last Sunday we had difficulty finding enough seating in our 10:45 a.m. service! I left church that day with a sense of how wonderfully privileged I’ve been to see these early signs of spiritual renewal.
No method, technique, adaptation, or device, can produce true worship. It must come from the Lord to a willing and open heart. I encourage you to resist the temptation to criticize the changes that are being made. If we aren’t singing “your song,” or if we do not have the “right people on the stage,” or if the new method that we are using seems foreign to you, remember that these are methods that sincere people are using to open our large, multigenerational, and diverse church to a more simplified, authentic, and sincere form of worship that most people can enjoy. If it isn’t “your cup of tea,” I would encourage you to look for the good in it. We are hearing from dozens of people who are greatly moved to worship the Lord.
I encourage everyone in our church to pray each day for the Lord’s powerful work in our services. Also, prepare your own heart before you come to worship. The Lord may well be ready to touch all of our lives in a special way.
