The goal of TableTalk is to come together once a week to intentionally look at and discuss some key theological points about our faith and answer many tough questions that college-age students may ask. We want to deepen our understanding of why we believe what we believe so that we are better equipped to submit to the authority of Scripture in our personal relationship with the Lord and have spiritual conversations with those around us. And it goes without saying, we want to have a good time doing it! Our theme verse is, "You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. (2 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV)
We pray that as we are strengthened by the grace of Christ, just as we have heard the gospel, that we would entrust this gospel to others who will be able to entrust the gospel to more people. We not only desire a love for the gospel to grow in the hearts of all believers within our ministry, no matter the maturity, but we pray that God would give us boldness with that gospel to come alongside others, teaching them the importance of being bold with the gospel. We don't just want to make converts; we want to make disciples. And by making disciples, we in turn, will be loving God and loving people. As the semester progresses, we envision a deeper understanding of the gospel, a deeper connection to each other, and a boldness to share the Good News.
We desire TableTalk to include believers, not yet believers, and non-believers alike. Many studies show that two-thirds of "Christians" in high school will forgo the local church once in college. We strongly desire the two-thirds attend. We also desire inclusive, maturing students active in HHBC''s college ministry. We want to be the church home for college students at UCO.
