Sub-Saharan Africa is, geographically, the area of the continent of Africa that lies south of the Sahara. The Saharan and Sub-Saharan regions of Africa have been separated by the extremely harsh climate of the sparsely populated Sahara. The population of Sub-Saharan Africa was 800 million in 2007. More than 40% of the population in sub-Saharan countries is younger than 15 years old.
A Divine Appointment
Through a divine appointment during a trip to Sub-Saharan Africa in 2009, our Global Outreach Pastor met Henry, a pastor with a growing church, roughly two hours east of the capital city of Kampala. Pastor Henry is a truly humble servant with a leadership vision for growing the Kingdom of God.
He not only shepherds those in his church but also provides far-reaching support and training to pastors all over Sub-Saharan Africa. We have seen that he consistently puts the needs of others before his own.
Pastor Henry also introduced us to Joseph, the pastor of a small non-denominational church. The distance and poor roads make travel there difficult, but we have, nonetheless, had the opportunity to share and minister alongside Joseph. Like Pastor Henry, Pastor Joseph is an amazing leader and shepherd for his church.
HHBC works in concert with Pastor Henry and Pastor Joseph in their ongoing ministries through Bible teaching conferences, pastor training conferences, medical and dental clinics, and Bible-based small business training. The summer of 2015, a team from HHBC helped stage the first women's conference ever at Pastor Henry's church. While each visit is carefully planned, the Lord has consistently chosen to work in unanticipated ways on virtually every trip; from the moving experience of one team ministering inside the walls of a prison, to the blessing of another that participated in the growth of a believer's peanut butter production business that now provides for his family and his own ministry.
The Lord has truly blessed those involved with this ministry. Please let us know if you have an interest in getting involved in the work in this beautiful country with its amazing people.
