The Elder Council has completed their work on the second slate of candidates presented by Vanderbloemen Search Group (VSG). After extensive scrutiny, online interviews, some face-to-face visits, and much prayer, the Elders have determined that God's man was not among those presented in this group. They have met with representatives of VSG to refine some of the search paramaters, but not changing the qualifications as first established. VSG will continue to search for candidates to present for the Elder Council's consideration. In addition to the VSG search, the Elders have begun to reach out to contacts in like-minded churches, seminaries, and ministry groups in an effort to explore all avenues of communication to potential candidates. Both search efforts will continue until we have a new Lead Pastor or God changes our direction.
Also, in light of the continued search and the extended time and commitment it will require of the Elder Council, the Council has decided to identify someone who will function as an Interim Preacher for the remainder of the search. This "preacher" will bring consistency and continuity to the pulpit in our weekend services. He will also relive the stress that has been on those of the Elder Council who have been functioning as the Interim Teaching Team, allowing them to direct their energy to the task of identifying our next Lead Pastor.
Please continue to pray for our Elder Council. Pray that Henderson Hills will continue to seek God and be obedient to His call to Love God, Love People, and Make Disciples.
