Dear Church Friends,
It is with great joy and excitement that we announce the results of today's vote on whether or not to call John Wohlgemuth to be our next Lead Teaching Pastor. As announced at the conclusion of the 10:45 am worship service, the vote was 99.6% in favor of calling him, and John has accepted the call. The current expectation is that John's first full weekend as our Lead Teaching Pastor will be June 23rd/24th. Please pray for John, Emily, and their three boys as they make the transition to Edmond, and Henderson Hills.
Thanks to our wonderful church members who've been so patient, prayerful, and encouraging during the past year as we've sought God's man. We love you all.
Your Elder Council
John Wohlgemuth grew up in Fairview, OK, and attended Oklahoma State University where he played football and earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering. OSU is also where he met his wife, Emily, and they married in 2005. Emily grew up in Mesquite, TX, is a licensed Civil Engineer, and currently works part-time for an engineering firm. John and Emily have three sons: Noah (9), Luke (7), and Levi (4).
John earned his Master of Divinity in 2010 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He also worked two years for an engineering firm in Fort Worth while in seminary. John is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He expects to complete and defend his final project on disciple-making in the coming year.
John’s served as Lead Pastor at Normandale Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX from 2015 through June 2018. He previously pastored Trinity Baptist Church in Weatherford, OK from 2010–2015. Prior to that position, John served while in seminary as an associate Youth/Music Minister at Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX and as a Youth Minister at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Stillwater, OK.
John is passionate about preaching, disciple-making, missions, the local church and, most of all, his family, which he refers to as his first ministry. The Elder Council has found John to be a man who passionately pursues God. As we’ve grown to know John more, we’ve come to believe wholeheartedly that John Wohlgemuth is God’s man for HHBC and we are certain you will grow to love him as we have.
