HHBC Security

HHBC Security Statement

Due to the recent tragedy at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas we wanted to inform the church about the security measures we take here at Henderson Hills Baptist Church. We take the safety and security of our church family very seriously.

We do, in fact, have a Security Team headed by Chris Cook, a Police Detective with the Edmond Police Department. Chris and the team evaluate potential threats and take the appropriate steps to continue to ensure that HHBC remains a safe place to worship and fellowship. Below you will find a list of our security and safety measures we employ at HHBC. We do not disclose publicly the full details of our plan to preserve its integrity, but should you want more details of our plan please feel free to contact Chris Cook (chris.cook@edmondok.com) or myself, Craig McClain (cmcclain@hhbc.com) and we would be happy to provide additional details.

Security and Safety Measures:

  • Full security alarm system with motion detectors and fire alarms
  • Video surveillance of the property
  • Significant child safety protocols
  • Both uniformed and plain clothes, off duty Edmond Police Officers on site during all worship service gatherings and most large events on HHBC property.
  • Officers protect all areas of the church, including inside the Worship Center, Children’s areas, and outside the building.
  • Police cruisers are parked in our circle drives on the east and west sides of the building as a visual police presence.
  • We have an Emergency Response Team. This team includes medical professionals as well as security personnel. This team is tasked with responding to any type of medical emergency and has the support of the Security team as well.
  • Ushers, greeters, and Deacons have been included as part of our preventative measures against anyone desiring to do harm. They are on the lookout for things and situations that “just don’t look right”.
  • Additional measures are being considered and will be implemented as soon as possible.

Please know that we are taking every step we can to provide a safe place for everyone who attends HHBC. Please let us know if you have any questions.
