Remember Those Who Led You

HHBC_Remember_Led_K_Swyden

Maybe today you can remember your moment of salvation, who was there, and who spoke the Word of truth to you. Take time to meditate on that moment and rejoice in the pursuit of God for you and the servant He used to speak His grace to you.

"Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith." Hebrews 13:7

It is a comfort to know God has placed people in our life so we can “imitate their faith.” We need to be grateful to God that He brought someone into our life to speak the Word of truth. Romans 10:15 says, “And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Surely these are people we can follow, knowing they remain close to God and stay in the Word so we, and others, can be edified. This is an enormous responsibility, but God has led these people into our lives. Pray for them today. Maybe you could reach out to them to thank them for the transforming truth they spoke into your life. Pray they can be faithful to this time and place as He will remain faithful. As the writer of Hebrews tells us to “remember those who led you” that means more than an intellectual recollection. It means we consider their words, the model of their life, and then put into practice that which we remember.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you so much that you have prepared witnesses of Your own heart to be part of the body of Christ. Let us remember their sacrifice with gratitude. Let us follow their example and be a witness to others about You and Your saving grace. As I reach out to thank the one who spoke Your truth to me, let me also, today, speak Your truth to another. In Jesus Name, Amen.
