This winter Henderson Hills has five different offerings for our Wednesday Equipping Nights. Choose from the following...

First Things First - Digging Deeper
Led by HHBC Elders | 10 weeks | Worship Center

On Sundays beginning in January, our church will be going through a sermon series entitled "First Things First," which will highlight core doctrines to our faith that are distinctly Christian. (examples include the Trinity, salvation by grace alone, the deity of Christ, and the authority of Scripture). While we cannot differ on these essentials, they are not always easy to understand. There are also lower-tier beliefs that Christians hold which create different denominations and churches, while even further there are doctrines where disagreement is okay and we can still worship together in our local congregations. What do we make of all that? And how do we sort through that fog? On Wednesdays, our elders will dig deeper into each doctrine that is taught on Sunday, to help us understand more clearly and provide an opportunity for Q & A on that topic along with suggested resources for further study.

Men's Bible Study - The Gospel Centered Life at Work
Led by Jackson Cook | 10 weeks | Room W-105*

The gospel of Jesus can transform every part of our lives, but how can we bring it into our work life? The gospel should make each of our lives look distinctly different compared to the rest of the world, even while we work. This 10-week study lead by Jackson Cook will guide you to begin building a bridge from your personal faith to your work. We will discuss God’s desire for us to work, reflect and imitate His image, serving others, and more.

Women's Bible Study - Jesus and the Gospels: Passion Week
Led by Carol Sallee | 9 weeks | Green Room

The four gospels tell the same basic story about Jesus, but from four different viewpoints and to four different audiences. Putting all four gospel accounts together provides a deeper picture of Jesus’ Passion Week. In this study, you will gain an overview of each day of Jesus’ final week, including His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, conflict with the Jewish religious leaders, cleansing the temple, the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, His arrest, trial, crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. Plus a bonus session covering the events that occurred 40 days after Jesus’ resurrection—His ascension, the Great Commission, and His plan to birth the early church. This is a continuation from last semester, but don’t hesitate to join in! Part 1 of this study, Jesus' Life and Ministry, is available with handouts on Carol Sallee’s YouTube channel.

Women's Bible Study - Sermon on the Mount
Led by Julie Lewis | 9 weeks | Room W-109*

In His sweeping depiction of Kingdom citizenship, Jesus utters some of the most familiar passages in all of Scripture. Most of us have only encountered the Sermon on the Mount in fragments, considering its subdivisions as complete teachings. What if we navigated these three chapters in Matthew as they were originally heard? What if we read them as one cohesive, well-ordered message, intended to challenge us to think differently about what it means to be a follower of Jesus? Come and learn from Jesus, just as His disciples did. First released in 2014, this study is now updated with new teaching videos from Jen Wilkin.

The Story of Everything
by Jared Wilson | Led by Staff and Community Group Leaders | 10 weeks | Room W-202

God is telling a story. Are you listening? The story of God's glory gives significance to everything we see and do. We’re all searching for significance―something deeper, richer, and bigger than what we can see in our unremarkable, everyday routines. The greatest news we can hear is that God has a very real purpose for everything in this life. In The Story of Everything, Jared Wilson will teach the redemptive story that God is telling in and through the world. Discussion will follow a brief video study.

The Story of Everything is a Continuing Education platform from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. This class can be taken for the value of knowledge or serve to fulfill requirements for Spurgeon College.
