UPDATE: Sunday, January 26, 2020

We are pleased to introduce you to our Search Team and Elder Council's recommendation for Worship Pastor, Joe Morrow, and his family.

Joe Morrow and family

Joe Morrow and his wife Melanie are humbled by the call of God to come and serve at Henderson Hills Baptist Church. They have been married for 10 years and have two daughters: Millie (age 5) and Quinn (age 3). Joe has faithfully served as a Worship Pastor in Lubbock, Texas for the last 16 years. He first served as the College Worship Pastor at Southcrest Baptist Church for five years. Then, in January 2008, Southcrest commissioned him to help plant Redeemer Church where he served as Lead Worship Pastor for 11 years. His time was spent developing worship leaders, training musicians, and making disciples of Jesus. He also served in an executive role at Redeemer overseeing worship, communications, and connections departments. His passion for Henderson Hills is to lead it in gospel-centered, Christ-exalting, Biblical worship that influences the church to be disciples who make disciples.

Though he has been in Texas since 2003, Joe grew up in Moore, Oklahoma and graduated from Community Christian High School in Norman. He received a bachelor’s degree in General Studies from Texas Tech University but is still an Oklahoma Sooner at heart. He enjoys cooking for family and friends, collecting jazz and soul vinyl records, and reading theological books.

Joe and Melanie met at Redeemer Church in Lubbock during the first year of the church plant. Melanie is originally from Midland, Texas and attended OU where she was Vice President of Membership in Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. For nine years, she has cared for and mentored female students as an administrative advisor for Theta at Texas Tech. She is a joyful, hardworking, stay-at-home mom who passionately cares for her family. The Morrows love game nights, cooking together, and outside activities.

Their hope and desire is to see an exciting move of God take place in the Worship Ministry of Henderson Hills. They long to see Jesus’ name lifted high and HHBC be a church that lives worthy lives of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are grateful for this opportunity and are excited to meet everyone.

Other opportunities to meet Joe:

Wednesday Night, February 5 at 6:15 pm, Joe will lead us in Worship.
Sunday, February 9, Joe will lead again in Worship and our church will vote in all three services.

Our Elders introduced Joe to our church this past Sunday (January 26th) and Joe lead us in Worship. Our bylaws require the Elders’ recommendation to be affirmed by a vote of church members. We want to give you plenty of time to pray about this and not rush the process. So, the vote is scheduled for February 9. In the interim, you will be able to ask any questions of the Elders, of course, but also, our candidate will return on Wednesday, February 5, to lead worship that evening. You will have one final opportunity to view our recommended candidate leading worship on February 9, prior to the votes in each worship gathering. We plan to have ballots available in advance for any members who will be unable to attend on February 9. Please pray for our candidate, his family, and our church as we jointly move through this introduction process.
