About this Sermon...

1 Samuel 31 marks the tragic end of Saul, Israel's first king, whose life spiraled from promise to despair as he rejected God's way and ultimately died by his own hand in defeat. In contrast, David—though absent from this chapter—emerges as the true king by trusting God, grieving even his enemy Saul, and displaying the character of a humble leader. This final chapter in 1 Samuel points us beyond both Saul and David to Jesus—the perfect King—who unlike Saul, died not to preserve His own power, but to save His enemies and establish an eternal Kingdom of grace.
