Next Steps

We are committed to ministering to children, ages birth through Pre-K, and their parents.

Hillside Kids is available on Sundays at 9 & 10:30 am. Birth-Pre-K children may attend one or more sessions. Kids three years old through 5th grade (during the school year) can also attend our Wednesday night program at 6:15 pm called G2, designed to be an extension of our weekend curriculum with a focus on discipleship (growth) and missions (go).

Our Community Group classroom activities combine Bible stories, playtime, and music to teach children about God the Creator and Jesus' love for them. Babies will hear simple Bible verses and truths repeated to them while they are in our care.

We take every precaution to provide a loving, safe environment for children. All teachers must complete a Reducing the Risk security/safety class and submit to a thorough background check before working with children. A duplicate tag check-in system is used to ensure children are returned only to their parent or guardian.

Childcare

As support for various other ministries in our church, Hillside Little Kids also provides a safe and enjoyable environment for children while their parents participate in ministry activities. Childcare is available for newborns to Pre-K (and sometimes Pre-K through 5th grade) for most evening activities and special events throughout the year. In most cases, Henderson Hills relies on paid and trained workers who provide childcare on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday evenings. Children are accepted into their classrooms 15 minutes before each activity.

Safety and Security

Our goal is to ensure, to the best of our ability, the safety, and security of our church members, beginning with our youngest and most vulnerable ones. We take every precaution possible and adhere to a three-fold approach to safety: (1) worker training and screening, (2) on-site security personnel, and (3) secure child check-in system.  Furthermore, classroom doors have windows so that activities are visible from the hallways and video monitors observe activities around entrances and hallways.

Reducing the Risk (RTR) training is a mandatory qualification for every person working with children (birth through 5th grade) and students (6th through college) at Henderson Hills. It is also required of all Ministries of Jesus Ministry volunteers.

Early childhood classrooms are staffed with two people at all times and are regularly monitored by supervisory staff. Before working with children, each volunteer leader and paid staff member must undergo a background check, interview, and reference check and complete a 'Reducing the Risk' (RTR) training session.

RTR takes place on Wednesday Nights at 7:45 pm in Room HK-213
