Trusting God: Giving Him Everything

Scripture

“You will make known to me the path of life; In your presence is fullness of joy; In your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Psalm 16:11

Meditation

David has resolved here that God will reveal to him what lies ahead. Not only that, David is at a place of not really knowing what lies ahead and that's okay with him. It's okay with David because he has experienced the veracity of God and His Lordship. Sometimes God says “you just need to walk with me and go where I lead you.” Other times God gives us a vision and then says, “just be faithful and I will see that it comes to pass in my timing.”

Either way, David is saying here that the best place for him to be, and by extension us, is at a place of totally trusting God with our future and direction. When we can do that and let that submission permeate our lives, there is fullness of joy and there are pleasures beyond our understanding and current enjoyment. Tomorrow is in God’s field of vision. The end of the journey is within His power. Our steps are within His steadying grasp. The end result is joy - the joy of faithfully following our Lord and the joy of God’s forever promises.

Prayer

Father, I confess I don’t know the next minute, but you see beyond forever. My footing is unsure of the next step, but you know the entire journey. I fear things that have not happened, but nothing happens without your knowing. I fall before you today and ask for trust in you and you alone as I travel through this life. Let me rest in you and know the fullness of your joy and the certain expectation of your pleasure forever.

And for today, let’s pray for joy for each other. The joy of the Lord, the joy of Christ’s salvation, the joy of His peace. Let someone know you prayed for them.
